Bathing your bearded dragon is important for its cleanliness as well as keeping their skin hydrated. Bathing also helps with other issues your pet may experience, such as constipation, fecal impaction, and shedding. - How often should you bathe your bearded dragon? You can bathe your bearded dragon as often as once per day, but many owners generally bathe them at least once every four to eight days. When constipation or shedding occurs, it is recommended to bathe them more often than you would otherwise. Bathing often helps speed the process of defecation and assists your beardie with shedding its loose skin.
- How warm should the water be? When bathing your bearded dragon, the water should be approximately 95 degrees. You may want to use a thermometer to make sure the temperature is ideal for your bearded dragon and that the water doesn't cool off too quickly.
- How deep should the water be? The water should be deep enough for your dragon to move about and its body to remain mostly underwater, but it should also be able to easily be keep its head out of the water. The water should usually end up one or two inches deep, depending on the size of the bearded dragon you have.
- How long should I let my bearded dragon bathe? The bath should last anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes, just be sure to keep adding warm water to maintain the correct temperature.
- Where is the best place to give my bearded dragon a bath? Many places are good to give your bearded dragon a bath. You could fill a sink or large tupperware container, but many prefer to use a bathtub. Beardies love to swim around in the water and a large space such as a bathtub is ideal for them to wade.
